Our Team

Dr. Atwell was born and raised on Long Island, New York, and relocated to Maine in 2015 after completing his dental training at University at Buffalo’s School of Dental Medicine. He completed his general practice residency at Penobscot Community Dental Center and accepted an associate dentist position at Creative Dental Solutions working under Dr. James Sevey. In 2017, Dr. Atwell went on to establish Bucksport Dentistry, a small dental practice within an independent dental hygiene office in Bucksport, Maine.

Dentistry is Dr. Atwell’s passion and he has focused his continuing education on cosmetic and prosthetic restorative dentistry. He is a Dawson Academy Scholar, having completed their core courses which focus on occlusion, or how the teeth function together. He is continually expanding his knowledge base and seeking to create a comfortable atmosphere for his patients. He has completed a Surgical Fellowship with the Resnik Implant Institute, which involved more than 100 hours of study. Most recently, he has achieved Fellowship status with the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD). To achieve this status a clinician must log 500 hours of approved continuing education, pass a written exam and maintain good standing with the Academy of General Dentistry for at least 5 years.

In his spare time, Dr. Atwell enjoys photography, travel, music, and spending time outdoors.

Carly is a Central Maine native. Carly has experience in the medical field, previously being a CNA. You will see Carly’s smiling face as soon as you walk into our practice! Outside of work, Carly enjoys being at camp, swimming boating, spending time with her family, her pet boxer, Jaxson. Carly also enjoys crocheting, cooking, and being an avid iced coffee drinker!

Smiles? She’s got plenty! Dyani loves laughing with patients and making them feel welcome. She has worked in the medical field for over 20 years, and has now joined our team in dentistry! She loves collecting crystals and spending time with her two daughters Alexis and Alyssa.

Cathy is a graduate of UMaine and is a Maine native. She has been a hygienist in our practice for over 30 years. She is passionate about helping patients achieve and maintain oral health. She has continued to learn and grow in her profession through extensive continuing education with a special focus on periodontal therapy. Cathy considers it a pleasure to work with this great dental team. Outside the office, Cathy enjoys her family, hiking, traveling and eating healthy food.

Karen was born and raised in New York where she started her career as a dental assistant. She moved to Maine 21 years ago and her passion for dentistry led her to further her career as a dental hygienist. 715 Hammond Street has been her dental home since 2005. She is extremely devoted to educating her patients on their oral health and administering to their individual needs. When Karen is not at her dental home, she can be found at her home spending time with her family and enjoying precious moments with her beautiful granddaughter.

Tammy is a 1994 graduate of the University of Maine at Augusta Bangor Campus, Dental Assisting Program.

She comes to us after 28 years of working with Dr James Sevey at Broadway Dental Associates and Creative Dental Solutions. During her time at Creative she enjoyed working along side Dr. Atwell when he was an Associate Dentist in the practice.

Katie moved to Maine 7 years ago from Middletown, Ohio. With over 7 years of experience in dental assisting, Katie states she enjoys making a difference in her patients’ experience. Outside of work Katie enjoys spending time with her husband and their 3 cats; Skylar, Sully and Sophia. Katie also enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends, as well as obsessing over her succulents.
